REAAA, the Road Engineering Association of Asia and Australasia, promotes the science and practice of road engineering and related professions in the Asia Pacific region through developing professional and commercial links within and between countries in the region.
“Road for Better Living”, as a theme in the 15th REAAA Conference, implies the fact that roads play an important role of connectivity of transportation networks and better logistic services and economic and rural development. However, road development should also ensure the quality of life, culture, heritage and health of the society.
In 2017, the conference was held on 20 – 24 March in Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center (BNDCC) of Indonesia. There were total of 9 sessions/meetings, exhibition and cultural visit, as well as golf gathering during the 4-day conference.
There were 4 main themes in the event that would be divided into some agendas, which were the plenary session, workshops, exhibition, technical session, organizational meetings, partner session, special session, and business forum.
Those themes were:
- Road safety and intelligent transport systems
- Green construction and sustainability
- Road development as a driver of growth
- Road financing schemes/public private partnerships
- Other topics related to road development
